Scranton, PA – Friday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Baseball team lost to ASA College in a non-conference nine inning contest. The Falcons were outscored by ASA in a high scoring contest 13-11

Lackawanna took an initial 1-0 lead in the contest before the Avengers rebounded in the third to go ahead 3-1. Over the next three innings the Falcons scored five runs to again take the lead at 6-3. A seven run rally in the top of the seventh gave ASA a 10 – 6 lead and the momentum. However, like in so many games this year, the Lackawanna batters would not give up as they scored two runs on a Colon Weinert double, another on a DJ Berry-Staszak RBI single and an unearned run to tie the score at 10-10. Unfortunately the Falcons' bullpen could not stop the Avengers from scoring, as ASA scored two in the eighth and one in the ninth to give them a three run lead. Again, it appeared that Lackawanna would rebound again when Colin Weinert slammed a solo homer to left center field in the bottom of the ninth. However, it was the only run the Lackawanna nine could as they fell 13-11.

The Falcons combined for 12 hits in the loss, with four Falcon batters having multi-hit games. Those four hitters were Jahmoi Percival,  DJ Berry-Staszak, Ryan Cole and Colin Weinert. Percival scored twice on a single and double in three official trips to the plate. Berry-Staszak had two singles, a run scored and two RBIs in six at bats. Cole had the most hits of the four with three singles, a run scored and another driven in, in five plate appearances. While, Weinert had a perfect two for two day with a double, homer, a run scored and three RBIs.

Relief pitcher, Christian Jorgenson suffered the loss after giving up the ASA runs in the top of the eighth. With the loss, his win-loss record is now 0-2.

Weather permitting, the Falcons will complete their regular season with a home twin-bill against Monroe County Community College on Sunday. The first game of that doubleheader is scheduled for a 1:00 PM start.
