At Scranton, Pennsylvania, four members of the Lackawanna College women's basketball team scored in double figures to lead the Lady Falcons in an upset win over the number one team in the Region XIX Division II standings, Union County College. Christina DiBartolomeo led the foursome with sixteen (16) points. The others scoring in double digits were Terika Turner with fifteen (15); Megan Campbell with twelve (12) and Sabrina Coleman with ten (10) points.
Both Turner and Campbell combined their points with double figure rebounds to give each a double-double night; Turner recorded eleven (11) rebounds, while Campbell registered thirteen (13). Kayla Bailey contributed to the victory with a team high eight (8) assist.
Union came into game with 14-1 win/loss conference record and first place in Region XIX Division II women's standings. With the win Lackawanna improved their Region XIX record to 14-3 record and 17-5 overall. As a result, Lackawanna still has a chance to finish the season in first place in the Region standings. To do so, the Lady Falcons need to beat Manor College on Saturday while Union loses its final two games (Lackawanna takes outright possession of first place) or loses to Burlington (Lackawanna and Union tie but the Falcons take first place on tie breaker).
Saturday's game against Manor is "Sophomore Day" and will be the last regular season home game for Terika Turner, Megan Campbell, Christina DiBartolomeo, Liza Gillette and Kayla Bailey. The contest will be played at the Student Union and will start at 1:00 PM.
