Scranton, PA - Saturday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Volleyball team split an important Region XIX Division II Tri-Match, losing 3-0 to Harcum College in the opener and winning in the nightcap 3-0 over County College of Morris. The win was important to the Lady Falcon's in that it ties the Falcons with Morris for the third-place seed in the upcoming Region XIX Division II Volleyball Tournament.
In the match against Harcum, Lackawanna lost the three sets by scores of 25-21, 25-16, and 25-11. The leading performers for the Falcons in the loss were Jordan Skoff with nine kills, seven digs and three blocks and Kayla Baney with two kills, seven assists, an ace and two blocks.
In the win over CCM, the Lady Falcons won its three sets by scores of 25-23, 25-20 and 25-16. The Falcons' top performers in the night cap were Skoff with fifteen kills and three aces; Baney with two kills, sixteen assists and two blocks; and Samantha Snashell with a kill and six blocks.
In commenting on today's matches, Coach James Hummer said, " Today, we did a great job on defense. Our blocking was on and we were playing a fast defense with transitions into an effective offense. Overall, I'm very happy with how we are playing at this moment. I hope we can keep this momentum going into the post season."
The Falcons will not play again until next Saturday, when they travel to Community College of Rhode Island in Warwick, Rhode Island to participate in CCRI's Northern Invitational. The Falcons will face Frederick Community College in the Invitational opener.
