Scranton, PA - The Lackawanna College men's basketball team used double digit scoring from 4 players to claim an important 84-62 Region XIX victory over Raritan Valley Community College. The win propelled the Falcons into a 4th place tie with Raritan. Because of an earlier season win by Lackawanna at Raritan Valley, the Falcons by virtue of the Region tie breaker will receive the 4th place seed in the Region DII Men's Basketball Tournament and will now host a quarter final game at home. Their opponent will most likely be Raritan Valley. The date, and time of that game will be announced by the Region's seeding committee when the tournament seeds are officially announced.
The four Falcons scorings in double figures were Gil Benz with 22; Cartier Talford with 16; Justin Iton with 15; and Kristian Gill with 10. Gill combined his 10 points with a team high 11 rebounds to give him a game double double. Javontay Pipkin and Talford led the team in assists as each dished out 5.
With the win, Lackawanna finished with a conference win loss record of 8-6 and overall record of 18-10. They will finish their regular season this Thursday when they travel to Northeast, Maryland to take on Cecil College. Game time for that contest is 6:00 PM
