Scranton, PA – Sunday afternoon the Lackawanna College Volleyball team swept its tri-match with Community College of Philadelphia and Delaware Technical Community College. The Falcons defeated CCP in three sets 25-11, 25-8 and 25-5, before taking three out of four against Delaware Technical Community College by scores of 25-15, 25-22 and 25-18. Their only loss of the day came in the second set when they fell to the Spirt 25-19.
In the opening match, the Falcons were led by the performances of Jordan Skoff, Keryne Brostoski and Amaya Townsend. Skoff recorded 6 kills, 5 assists, 4 serving aces and 12 digs. Brostoski had team highs in kills with 10 and blocks with 2. Townsend contributed 4 kills 8 aces, 8 digs and a team best 6 assists.
In the second match, the Lady Falcons' play was again highlighted by the efforts of Skoff and Townsend. Skoff recorded 15 kills and had 3 solo blocks. She also had 40 digs and an assisted block. Townsend led the team in aces with 4. Brenda Reninga contributed to the team's winning effort with 8 assists.
The win against Del Tech gives the Falcons a 2-1 record in conference with their only loss coming at the hands of the Harcum Bears. Combined with the victory in game one, Lackawanna now has an overall record of 10-8.
The Lady Falcons will take a week break before they return to the court next Saturday at County College of Morris. Lackawanna will play both Morris and Delaware Technical in an important Region XIX Division II tri-match. Saturday's matches are scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM.
